I wanted to be successful! I was warned:
“Be careful of what you want at the age of 20, for you will have it when you are 40!”
I did, and yet I was not truly successful. I had a wonderful wife, nine children, a beautiful home, properties, prominence in the community as a family physician, and position as an elder in our local church. From the world’s perspective I was successful. I believed this until I heard the true definition of success; Fulfilling the purposes for which God created you. This purpose is found in a right relationship with God, our family and others. This helped me understand the emptiness I experienced in the midst of my worldly prosperity.
Through God’s mercy and grace, at the age of 40, God opened my spiritual eyes to see myself as I truly was. I repented and began a journey that continues today. Through openness and brokenness The Lord began to show me His will for my life while simultaneously turning my heart towards my wife and children. Within 2 years God called me to step out of my “boat of security” which I found in the practice of medicine and “walk on water” by seeking and trust Him with my life. In 2003 God led us to sell all that we had and prepare for a family ministry. As a confirmation of this direction our house and property sold in less than 24 hours! After this miracle we were led to begin serving in Indianapolis, IN with a multi-faceted ministry called The Institute in Basic Life Principles. After five years in Indianapolis, we were directed to The Institutes head quarter in Chicago where we continue to serve as a family.
Our Journey continues as our whole family labors together to experience and share with others the love that God demonstrated by sending His Son into the world for our redemption. As we serve, we continue to learn the power of Christ’s commands that enable us to disciple others in God’s truth.
True success begins when we accept God’s sacrifice for our sins, through Jesus Christ, and is maintained as we learn to hear and obey his voice each day.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
Matthew 6:33

Steve, just looking at going to a Journey with Ernesto, and remembered this site… I Pray all is going well, and would love to see you some time when I am in Chicago. You are truly an inspiration and missed at ITC, (I have been there for our 8th C.N.A. class), and so many miss the Paine family. Well God Bless and let me know if you get this, thanks
Steve:
Have recently heard of changes occurring in your life. Would like to talk when you get a chance.
God Bless you my friend,
Bill
