A New Year, 2013

our Family2013…….What comes to your mind?….your heart?……hopes? ….fears? ….concerns? ….excitement?….anticipation? …..When you think of 2013……slow down just a moment and remember this…

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil,
to give you an expected end.” Jeremiah 29:11

2012 seems a bit of a blur to say the least.  August found us moving again.  We are still in Oklahoma, just a little further southwest.  It has been a slight transition to move from some of the very large homes that we have been able to stay in to a 1200 sq.ft. trailer.  But you know what, we are having fun.  Learning to appreciate one another and each one’s space…lol… has been a growing factor this past year.  I will try to update you on each one.

TabbyTabitha …remains at headquarters for IBLP, serving and translating when she gets the opportunity.  She has had the opportunity to mentor a group of young ladies through “The Vessels of Honor” program….She is truly a server.  She enjoys spending time with her brother and is looking forward to a trip to Mexico in a few weeks…faithful!

Chad n ErinChad…came home with us in August.  He is now reconstructing the “Little House” on the property.  We had just about decided to destroy the Little House (foundation falling apart, rat infested, termite damaged, leaking roof and filled with trash)…there was no hope til Chad came along.  Now he is ready to do drywall.  He basically built a home from foundation up.  It is like when God takes our lives…good for nothing, ready to be destroyed and He invests all and gives all to redeem us and make us totally new from the depths of our being…giving us new hope, greater value, usefulness etc…Chad will be leaving to Bolivia to work on some construction projects for an orphanage at the end of this month.  He is praying and seeking the Lord regarding work opportunities.  BUT MOST EXCITING is………….Chad is courting a beautiful young lady who loves the Lord……………….Miss Erin Bates!! (The Bates Family)……I don’t know about you but that is very exciting to our family.  We hope to keep you informed.  You can visit him at www.chadsperspective.com

TommyThomas….remains at headquarters also….he also enjoys photography in his spare time…lol…and a little construction on the side.  You can visit him at www.constant-survival.blogspot.com.  He surprised me at Christmas with a CD that he has been secretly working on called “This Part of Me”.  A big thank you to all of his piano teachers and God the Creator of his hands and mind…I love it!!!!

Nate Nate. .. He is still in IMI working on his degree for prison ministry.  On his off time, he has been working with a Chaplain in Little Rock, AR.  They will be going into over 10 prisons.  Wow, what a group of people that feel they have no hope this year.  You can visit him at www.freeingthecaptives.blog spot.com.

HannahHannah…still playing her harp.  She is now teaching piano to 8 children.  She plays for the church that we have been attending quite frequently.  She does almost all the shopping for our family (of 9 at home).  And any other errands that I need, she generally takes care of.  She also does the grading for 2 of her younger brothers.  The CD that Hannah accompanied Daniel Ziesemer with, “Everlasting Love” has been completed.  Many hours of hard work and practice.  Praise the Lord for this opportunity.Abby

Abby….she is on her way to tutor another home schooled family.  She completed 4 levels of  “In The Gap”.  She absolutely loved working with the school children in Oklahoma City.  She has continued playing her violin faithfully for the church we attend also.  She is seeking the Lord for that next step as she completed her high school requirements this past year.

BrielleBrielle….high school consumes most of her time.  Although, she plays for the church as well.  She brings  the right balance to our family with its multiple in depth conversations.

JosiahJosiah…busy with school work and assists Dad with the electrical work on the Little House.  He thinks that he might enjoy being an electrician.  He may be interested in plumbing too….anyway he definitely makes a good assistant.

DannyDaniel… he still has flying on the brain.  He continues to read and learn all he can.  We had the opportunity to visit TASM this past year in Tulsa.  Evidently they have some of the best flight instruction in USA.  He also loves to shoot his guns…he is very careful and practices his gun safety as well as maintaining care of them and being responsible.

Johnny B….I don’t know if it  is because I am getting older or because I have taught the children for over 22 years now or exactly what it is about Johnny….he is a wiggle worm…he cannot sit still for 1 subject, not to mention 6 more…he makes us laugh, he makes us cry, he gets all the responses of the rainbow and he absolutely loves Oklahoma…..he would definitely enjoy being a rancher.  The only problem is that he does not own a horse or cattle…hmmmmmm. Some of the children are coming alongside Dad to read through the Bible in a year…Johnny thinks that he will tackle the New Testament.Johnny

Steve….a truly wonderful example of Christ as a servant to his family.  He loves his family….he is on his knees for them…he is a great example of seeking the Lord in every decision.  He takes his role as father and husband very seriously.  And I am forever a grateful recipient.  He has a very difficult job being a physician in a correctional facility.  He cares about his patients and treats them like real people and I honestly believe that they know it…

Mom and DadTammy…that’s me….I am mom….Wow..God has been so good to me….I am a mom….a real mom…I wouldn’t trade that for anything…I am looking forward to this new year growing closer to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ…..and then being Him to my husband, my children and those that God brings across my path.

Thanks for all your love and prayers, encouraging words, wise counsel, thoughts and comments…we appreciate them and we need them.  What will 2013 bring??????????  I really don’t know….but we know Who does and we can rest in the hollow of His loving hand.  May God richly bless this New Year for….YOU…..and yours.

“Blessed is every one that feareth the LORD; that walketh in his ways.”
~ Psalm 128:1 ~

What a beautiful post. 🙂 I found you through your son Chad’s blog. Believe it or not, my 11 year old daughter just started reading his blog recently after asking my permission. She loves the Bates family and linked to him through them after finding out he was courting their daughter. She emailed me his link and told me that he was a really neat guy who really loved the Lord and that I should check it out. She was encouraged by him. Pretty awesome!

You have a lovely family. May God bless you all!

Met your family tonight on the Bates episode: Bates Plus 12 from 2012 where you were white-water rafting and had the train ride. You seem like a delightful family. All the best in the future.. 🙂
