It’s still Winter…
Posted by Chad 02 6th, 2009

This past two weeks has been full of activity…and snow. =) We have had a good amount of snow lately, at least in comparison to the past two years. It’s called for some extra work as far as shoveling goes, but we all have enjoyed it immensely.
However, it looks like things will be warming up this weekend on into the following week with projected highs in the upper 50′s!! Could spring possibly be on it’s way?…probably not yet. =) But we will enjoy the warmer weather though we will lose the snow.
The Paine household has been keeping busy with schoolwork and chores. Nathaniel has been working down at the Indiana state house serving with Advance America. Thomas is continuing to work in the maintenance department here at the training center while I (Chad =) am currently enrolled in some courses through TELOS, a Christian distance learning institution. The four oldest of the family (Tabitha, Chad, Thomas and Nate) are involved in a training center wide challenge.
The Challenge is centered around the theme of our identity in Christ.
It consists of memorizing two passages of scripture, doing Bible studies, watching messages, serving in initiative type projects, etc. It is quite the undertaking, but it has been a great experience!
Recently I watched a video by Evangelist Del Fehsenfeld. The topic was on How to Conquer the Fear of Man based on the verse in Proverbs 29:25, “The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.” The session was very challenging, convicting me of my caring more about the approval of man that of God…which in essence is idolatry. At the very core of the fear of man is pride.
It was a message that I needed to hear.
The Lord has been good to us and we are blessed. We are looking forward to what lies ahead in the coming months. It is hard to imagine that the month of January is already behind us! Blessings on all…

Thanks for the family update, Chad. After several really chilly months, it is an incredibly warm 53 degrees today here in Chicago. Tuesday is supposed to be up to 57! I’m liking the change.
I have enjoyed the snow though, and Hannah’s snow pics were great. Were the cardinals right outside the window?
God bless you all!
…thanks Robert. Hannah, did take those shots through the window. Today it warmed up…and we lost most of the snow. =)
Great to hear the official Paine Family Update! Wow – what a lot of snow!! Wish you all could overnight some our way
. VA seems to be on a ‘temporary’ warming cycle.
I like the Winter Challenge idea. Sounds like it could even be a fun activity for families…..hmmmmm.
By the way, our in house bird watcher and photographer Kenan enjoyed the picture of the cardinals in the snowy tree – nice photo Hannah!
Thanks for sharing about the Fear of Man DVD – I ordered it so our whole family can watch it!
