A Berry Good Time

One of the many things that we have enjoyed during our stay here in Oklahoma is berry picking. Amidst the large fields intermittent with woods, there are large berry patches. These patches can be quite dense, usually ranging from 7-8 feet tall and can cover hundreds of square feet. Mr. Toedt, the directer here at Eagles Springs, first took us berry picking a couple of weeks back. It was quite the experience, the berry bushes are not thorn-free that’s for sure!!
All in all we have enjoyed the fruit and fellowship of the harvest. Mr. Toedt said that the berries have done really well this year, most likely due to the rain which has been a blessing.
The guys have been working on different odd jobs lately. We are still working on one of the main water lines that has a leak. Mom’s been making bread, granola and all kinds of things that keeps her busy in the kitchen. The girls have been doing a lot of inventory of the large library of books that they have here and the younger guys (Joey, Danny and Johnny =) have been doing school, riding bikes and playing with Stultzy (the dog).
The weather has been very cool since we got back as well as cloudy and a little bit of rain here and there. we are all having a berry good time. =)

Yeehaw! Berry pickin’ is always a lot of fun! We’ve enjoyed doing some of that here in West Virginia! (except, of course, the berries are bigger and blacker and juicer) :-)

It’s great to hear what you all have been up to. Thanks for keeping everyone posted! I’m sure Mr. Toedt has been incredibly blessed!! The wild blackberries on our land here in W.Va. have done better than I’ve ever seen them before and we were also able to get a good harvest. Nonetheless, we went ahead and planted a couple thornless bushes so that in the years to come, Lord willing, we can do the picking with a little less pain. :) May the Lord be with you, and keep up the good work!
