Preparing Your Heart

As we watched the sun rise over the tops of the scrub oaks of Eastern Oklahoma on the final morning of our stay at Eagles Springs, our hearts were full joy and awe at the goodness of God.
In this time away, we were strengthened, encouraged, and unified around the person of Jesus Christ. It was a time for each one to come away and rest and spend much needed time with the Lord in the quiet of this wilderness place. Luke 5:16
The atmosphere invoked the worship and praise of our Creator as we looked upon the beauty of the world around us which was vivid proof of the awesomeness of our God.
The theme for our week was about preparing one’s heart so that there is no hindrance to seeking the Lord. Dad challenged each one of us to examine our life to see if there are things that could prevent us from truly seeking God with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength. A really awesome passage that sums up this thought was written by Hosea.
He really gives an intense admonition in chapter 10, verse 13:
“Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you.”
We enjoyed the weather (70′s), the guys had a lot fun fishing in the numerous ponds and streams that surrounded the lodge. Hiking was done every day along with target practice with BB guns. =)
We had the opportunity to do some spring clean up around the property. This past winter there had been a bad ice storm over a good portion of Oklahoma, and the majority of trees there were damaged. The guys enjoyed this activity a lot.
It was such a blessing to be together with each other and the Lord. Thanks for all your prayers for us. God protected us in numerous ways throughout the entire adventure. We are all back at Indy continuing on in the work that God has called us to do.
Sounds like a wonderful time together as a family! It’s so good to see everyone working together, playing together, and enjoying each other. Beautiful pictures!
Looks like you all had a ton of fun. Nice fish there, Nate! Great photos too. I know the presence of the LORD makes the biggest difference in the times we have together. Let us seek His face evermore! (Ps. 105:4)
