We celebrate Valentine’s Day because it reminds us of the word, “love”. We know that the greatest expression of true love is Christ unconditionally laying down His life that we may have life eternal. (John 3:16, John 15:13) We are also reminded that love is about others that we meet; friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, etc. We are so thankful that God put us in a world of others to consider.
Thomas came home for 1 week and we put him to work =)… instead of chickens, it’s trees. =D That’s a joke. Years ago Thomas had the wonderful job of caring for our laying hens! =) He just loved it!! haha… Now he has gone on to higher heights in life… He climbs trees for a living… No, really it is a dangerous job… he cut down several dead trees for us and some live ones that interfered with the growth of others. On 26 acres, there are quite a few to tend to. THANK YOU Thomas! (and assistants!)
In the Gap…
It was such a joy and encouragement to our family to have some fun with the “ In the Gap” staff. These young people work long and hard sharing character and the love of Christ with the children of OKC’s public schools. ( Of course, we are just a little bit biased since Abby is part of the staff this year. =) )
It has been a few years since we had a “true garden.” I suppose one plant could constitute a “garden.” Well the climate is a whole lot different here in Oklahoma than it is in Indiana… not to mention the soil. But we try to be diligent and ask God to bless it. We all have had fun getting it ready and planting the seeds.
Thomas & Dakota!…
As you may already know, Thomas asked Dakota Young if she would marry him at the end of March … And … she said “YES!” We are all excited about an upcoming wedding late summer/ early fall. Dakota was just recently licensed as a Certified Nurse Assistant. She really has a heart to reach out to people. We are thankful for her and her love for the Lord… and for her testimony.

December 31st commemorated Hannah’s 21st birthday at the Paine family household!!! God has graciously blessed our family with Hannah and her many talents which she uses for the glory of the Lord. Whether its designing cards, teaching harp and piano lessons, helping babysit younger children or just being at home enjoying fellowship with the family, we are indebted to God for such a wonderful treasure.
For each individual person, God has a purpose and plan that is wrapped up in the beautiful framework of a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is within this relationship that one finds their meaning and significance in life. Hannah has found this awesome relationship with her heavenly Father through Jesus Christ and continues to walk in it’s brilliant light.
We love you Hannah and pray God’s blessing upon you as you ABIDE in the Light as He is in the Light! <3

Christmas time is an opportunity for our family to draw closer to each other around the center of that which holds us all together, the Person of Jesus Christ! Jesus Christ is the essence of this special time of celebration and is at the heart which animates this time of season. As the apostle John puts it, “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. ”
We truly praise the Lord for the AWESOME gift of Life which He has granted to all that believe upon His Son’s name. Without His divine intervention through the power of His Holy Spirit, our family would not be the same as it is today. May God bless you all during this special time as you reflect on our eternal inheritance which we possess in Jesus Christ and how we have been given the privilege of sharing it with ALL who will receive it!
Ps. For pictures of our family time together over Christmas, please visit Thomas’s blog: http://constant-survival.blogspot.com/2013/12/thanksgiving-and-christmas.html

You can’t beat a masterfully made Thanksgiving dinner, fellowship with those who you care about the most and even more than this, an atmosphere where the love of God flows freely between likeminded believers. This was the case on Thursday the 28th of November 2013 in the Paine family household. Whether it was hiking the rugged Oklahoma terrain, playing table tennis or enjoying fellowship around a bountiful feast, all in all there was an atmosphere of God’s love which could not be purchased, manufactured or duplicated by any human effort.
Such love has been offered to all in the person of Jesus Christ and the gift of spiritual life that He gives to mankind. Those who receive this gift walk in a likeminded manner that exudes the love that Jesus Christ has for ALL humanity. This is one of the things our family is most grateful for; the sacrificial love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
John 15:12-17 speaks of this love that Christ has demonstrated and reminds of the need to abide in His love,
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you. 16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you. 17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.”
As you reflect this year on what you are most grateful for, may the thought never be far from your mind of the love that Jesus has for you and how He desires you to share this with others!
